I was born in 1982 in Gütersloh, Germany as the youngest child. Gütersloh is a middle-sized town in North Rhine-Westphalia – a green and peaceful city that is defined by Bertelsmann Media Group (BMG) and Miele, two very large international companies. This environment was optimal for learning and personal development.
Youth
From very early on it was already quite clear: Math, physics, electronics, IT and everything combined with logic as complex as possible would be my absolute focus. Mobile phones have not been very common yet, but you could already find me tooling with EPOC on my Psion or handling floppies on the Commodore 64.
Thanks to that I was already working in my free time on IT projects, event planning and electronics. Some years later I started a web hosting company “SevenBits” with some friends for hosting and maintaining servers in a data centers connected to Germany’s main hubs in Nuremberg and Frankfurt. Then I relocated to Aachen (Aken, Germany) for university.
Aachen, Germany
RWTH Aachen is a well-known university for physics, mechanical engineering and IT, some people call it even a “science monastery”. I studied “Technical computer science”, a combination between IT and Electrical Engineering. With my experience I was able to start working already in my first year for the “Software for Systems on Silicon” institute on the topic of “optimizing specialized compilers for industrial embedded devices”. On day time i studied, and at night, I worked at the compiler institute.
As a small side project I opened a company called “Stemmer IT” for engineering and software services in 2005. Over time the company evolved bigger than expected. One year later it increased to be my priority with a fixed business office and storefront in Aachen. In the coming years many national and international customers have been satisfied with realization and speed of the offered solutions – often on customer-site. Stemmer IT continued to exist until 2012, but the official peak was reached in 2009. Due to a family event, I was made to retreat near my hometown.
Bielefeld, Germany
After 10 years in Aachen i moved to Bielefeld and started working in the field of industrial measurement product development which were used in petrochemical production plants or in airline fueling station (ATEX/Ex areas) – as an Embedded Software and Systems Developer.
Berlin, Germany
It pulled me closer to the edge of technology, so in 2013 i moved to Berlin and begin working for an international laboratory measurement company SCHMIDT+HAENSCH. One year later I was in the position of Head of Research & Development and was responsible for the international development of the full product line.
Through my character I am not only a leader, if time allowed me: I have immersed myself into complex projects, for instance ultra high accuracy density meters or development of re-usable mainboard components. For nearly 10 years the department pushed successful through the projects and releases bringing new technologies to the world-wide product line of this more than 150 years old company.
International
With my wide range of network I was honored to work with various international partners and on projects. During my journey from year 2000 until now more than 80 countries have been visited.
Guangzhou, China
I relocated to the “Greater Bay Area” of China in 2022. It was the last intensive Corona year in the world, so this was no easy endeavor. At the end of the year I finally succeeded. I started the company branch Stehu to provide my network and customers with IT and embedded services during this phase.
Nobody knows for sure what will follow up, but I know one thing:
I will always live for the next development, the next product in line. That is what makes our lives every single day a bit better, safer and more intelligent.
